Mr Oladele Amoda, Chief Executive Officer of the company, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that EKEDC was going into partnership with Mojec International to fast-track metering within its network.
“We are ready to deploy about 100,000 pre-paid meters to our customers before the end of this year.
“This new prepaid meters roll out plan is a massive one. As you can see, we have several thousands of smart meters in our store and our engineers are ready to commence installation for the customers.
“We want to assure all our customers that we will not relent in our efforts to ensure all customers are provided with prepaid meters within a few months,’’ he said.
Amoda assured customers of the company’s commitment to eradicate estimated billing.
He noted that such billing was the major issue that led to customers’ dissatisfaction and distrust under the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
The CEO reiterated EKEDC’s resolve to continually improve on its distribution network to enhance consumers’ satisfaction.
He also commended Mojec International for their resolve and commitment to provide quality meters.
Amoda said that the prepaid meters were tropicalised for the Nigerian environment to withstand the weather condition.
He said they would be able to withstand the temperature, humidity, meter tampering and energy theft. (NAN)
