Ovim, (Abia) – Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has called on the electorate to speak through their voters’ cards by voting wisely in the forthcoming general elections. Ikpeazu made the call on Thursday while speaking at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally held at Isuikwuato High School, Ovim. The governor, who is also the PDP governorship candidate for Abia, said that the country would witness accelerated socioeconomic development if leaders emerged through the ballot. He noted that the electioneering period had presented the people with an opportunity to consolidate on the ongoing socioeconomic development in the state. According to him, the vision and goal of the PDP is pegged on building a secure future for the people of Abia. Ikpeazu urged the people of Isuikwuato to uphold the principle of equity and fairness in the state by supporting his re-election bid. The PDP governorship candidate said that the state government under his watch had made giant strides in various sectors of the economy. “I will not relent efforts in giving the people of Abia the dividends of democracy, doing so is my contract with the people,” he said. In his remark ,Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, the Chairman of Abia PDP Campaign Advisory Council urged the people to remain committed to the ideals of the party. Ugochukwu said that the party would not disappoint the people saying, “I appeal for your votes for candidates of our party in all the elections’ Also speaking, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, who represents Abia North in the National Assembly urged the people to work towards PDP’s victory in the elections. “We have come to seek for your support so that we can put our voting strengths together for the victory of our party,” he said.(NAN)
