Brazzaville – Mr Anguios Engambe, one of the nine candidates in the March 20 presidential elections in the Republic of Congo, has called on the Congolese authorities to organise national dialogue to restore lasting peace in the country.
“One of the most powerful weapons in our society is dialogue.
“This is why we believe there is need for all Congolese political leaders to sit together and find consensual solutions to the challenges facing the country,’’ Engambe said.
He said that the proposed dialogue should be led by the prime minister and representatives of the nine candidates in the March 20 presidential elections.
According to Engambe, the agenda of the talks will include discussion on establishment of a biometric voter’s register, release of all political prisoners and allowing political leaders to freely express themselves.
He added that the talk also include revision of the electoral register to facilitate free and fair legislative, local as well as senatorial elections.
“To ease the tension that has been mounting since the presidential elections, an agenda for the dialogue should be drafted as soon as possible,’’ he concluded. (Xinhua/NAN)
