Enugu – The Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday resumed sitting after a one-month recess.
The Speaker of the assembly, Chief Edward Ubosi, welcomed the members to the chamber after the recess which started on Aug. 12.
Ubosi urged them to resume duty in full force to enable them to finish all their agenda for the year.
He encouraged the various committees to hasten up and submit their reports to enable the assembly to finish its programmes for the year.
The speaker introduced Dr Emmanuel Udeagha as the new clerk of the assembly to replace the acting clerk, Mr. Linus Nebo, who served for four months.
Ubosi thanked the acting clerk who held the office after the retirement of Mr Christopher Chukwurah for the way he performed.
He promised to put a smile on the faces of the assembly staff in appreciation for how they helped to smoothen its workings.
While seconding the motion for adjournment, Mr Sunday Ude-Okoye (PDP-Awgu North) said that Nigerians should come to Enugu State to save the people because herdsmen had systematically planned to wipe them out.
Ude-Okoye was reacting to the recent attack on Attakwu-Akegbe, Nkanu West Local Government Area during which a seminarian and a women were murdered and three others injured.
He urged the Federal Government to do the needful, adding that the herdsmen were still threatening to do more.
The assembly adjourned to Sept. 20.
