Era of imposition over in PDP, says Fayose

ADO-EKITI – The Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Ayo Fayose, said the era of imposition of candidates for elective offices in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was gone.

Fayose stated this at a meeting he held with aspirants for legislative and local government elective positions on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

He said both the national and state chapters of the party had learnt a lot from the process that led to his election as governor.

“It is now evident that imposition of candidates for political offices does not produce popular candidates and is capable of making a party to lose sympathy of the electorate,’’ he said.

The governor-elect told the aspirants that the party would screen each aspirant before they could be allowed to participate in the election. [eap_ad_1] He therefore urged all aspirants not to bribe any party leader as such would not help them.

Fayose also said that the party would not hesitate to sanction any erring member who remained in the party and still work against it.

He said his government would ensure that all members of the party benefited from one thing or the other during his tenure.

The State chairman of the party, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, thanked President Goodluck Jonathan and the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, for supporting the party to win the Ekiti governorship election.

One time Education Minister, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, solicited the people of Ekiti and party members’ support for the governor-elect to enable him perform better than the outgoing administration. (NAN)
