Istanbul – President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey is planning a diplomatic tour to the Persian Gulf on July 23 and July 24 in order to enhance the dialogue within the framework of the Qatar diplomatic crisis settlement.
According to the Milliyet newspaper, Erdogan, plans to visit Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as Kuwait, which is serving as a mediator in the conflict.
Erdogan and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, have repeatedly called on Riyadh to make efforts toward peacefully resolving the row and have attempted to mediate it by diplomatic means.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt broke off diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and interfering in their internal affairs.
Kuwait, the four Arab states handed over an ultimatum containing 13 demands to Doha.
The list included requests to sever relations with Iran, close Turkey’s military base on Qatar’s territory and shut down Al Jazeera TV channel, as well as end support for the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organisation banned in Russia.
Doha has refused to comply with the demands.
