Brussels – Arias Canete, European Union Climate Action Commissioner, on Thursday called on the G20 members to come forward with ambitious pledges to curb climate change, ahead of key international climate talks in December.
The Paris summit will bring together leaders from around the world with the aim of adopting a new global climate change agreement.
The agreement will seek to prevent temperatures across the planet from rising two degrees or more above pre-industrial levels.

Canete said with just more than 100 days left to go; only a quarter of all countries have submitted their pledges to reach that target.
“Key G20 countries such as Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Turkey must submit their intended contributions without delay,” the commissioner said. (dpa/NAN)
