Ekperi – The Old Boys Association of Ekperi Grammar School, Ugbekpe Ekperi, Edo, has donated 150 desks and chairs to their alma mater.
The association also donated notebooks and other writing materials to the school as well as paid West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO) registration fees for 10 indigent students.
Presenting the items to the school, the President of the association, Mr Julius Athekamhe, said that the gesture was to promote a conducive learning environment.
“The primary objective is to give back to the institution that gave us quality education.
“The association is committed to complementing government’s efforts in making the school one of the best in the locality,’’ he said.
Athekamhe appealed to education stakeholders in Edo to improve teaching and learning in all public schools in the state.
“We need to invest in our children’s education because the future of our country is in the hands of the children.
“The association is out to support parents and governments to develop education,’’ he said.
Athekamhe called on the school authority to make judicious use of the items, and urged the students to study hard and be good ambassadors of the school.
The Principal of the school, Mrs Emily Elagame, thanked the association for the gesture.
She promised to make judicious use of the learning materials.
