Enug – Mrs Nneka Dim, a Physiotherapist, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla has urged students to embrace regular exercise as this will enhance their mental alertness in reading and learning.
Dim gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday.
She said that the more an individual exercises, the more alert he or she becomes, adding that a student that fails to exercise his body had the tendency of going down academically.
The physiotherapist explained that regular involvement in activities that keeps a person fit had the tendency of lowering cardio vascular diseases and body weight gain generally.
She said there was also the need for students to have sufficient rest and sleep, especially at night for proper function of the body system as this could also boost their academic performances.
According to her, research has shown that individuals who have quality sleep or rest are more productive in life.
She also advised students to shun evil activities which could distort their good academic performances. (NAN)
