Abuja – No fewer than 60 international technical and finance experts would converge on Lagos to discuss latest investment strategies on telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) in Africa on Sept. 20.
A statement in Abuja on Tuesday by host of the conference, TMT Finance Africa, said that the conference was expected to bring an international audience to Africa’s technology hub, the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Mr Ben Nice, Director, TMT Finance Africa, expressed optimism that the conference would promote cooperation between local, regional and international stakeholders as well as decision makers in Africa’s telecom, media and technology sectors.
“With just a month to go, we are really excited to be holding this event at such a critical phase for investment and mergers and acquisitions in Nigeria and Africa’s telecom, media and technology sectors.
“Lagos is the hub for innovation in Africa and the conference will act as a crucial dialogue between stakeholders and decision makers in the sector.
“Our team of TMT Finance News journalists has been reporting on a number of themes and specific situations across Africa this year.
“This includes the strategic review of Millicom’s regional assets, the sale of Neotel to Liquid Telecom, Google’s fibre rollout projects in various countries and Orange’s consolidation in West Africa,
“Others are MTN Nigeria’s IPO, a number of fundraisings for flourishing digital media and technology-based companies throughout Africa. It is really a captivating time for the sector,” he added.
The statement said that TMT Finance was partnering IHS Towers, the largest mobile telecommunications infrastructure provider in Africa, Europe and the Middle East in organising the forum.
Among the main themes on the agenda are “African Telecoms M&A and Financing’’, “Africa Broadband Infrastructure Investment’’, “Digital Africa Strategies, Venture Capital and Private Equity in Africa TMT’’.
Others include the “Evolution of the African Towerco’’, “Protecting Risk, Datacenters and Enterprise Cloud services’’, and “Connecting the Unconnected’’.
Participants at the conference would include executives of Airtel, MTN, Vodacom, MainOne, DLA Piper, Etisalat, IHS Towers, Ntel, Jumia, Nokia, Standard Bank, Emerging Capital Partners, Carlyle, Barclays, Spectranet. (NAN)
