A covert initiative aimed at fostering a safer academic atmosphere has been launched at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, where undercover agents are deployed to monitor and deter students involved in cultism, examination malpractices, and other misconduct.
These undercover operatives, disguised as students, are tasked with gathering intelligence and collaborating closely with school officials to identify and address any indecent behavior, thereby ensuring a conducive learning environment for all.
Dr. Ibeaja Uzoma, the Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, made this disclosure during the institution’s 46th Matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session, held yesterday to formally welcome new students.
Dr. Uzoma emphasized the institution’s uncompromising stance against indecent behavior, urging the matriculants to embrace values of excellence, decency, and academic integrity. He stressed the importance of diligence, discipline, and good character, cautioning students against engaging in activities such as cultism, examination malpractice, and other vices.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism, examination malpractice, and similar offenses. Any student found culpable will face expulsion and legal prosecution. We are committed to preserving our institution as a haven for learning and character development,” stated Dr. Uzoma.
Furthermore, he advised students against cohabitation with the opposite gender and staying out late, highlighting the potential risks of unwanted pregnancies, diseases, and other negative outcomes. Dr. Uzoma also encouraged students to uphold environmental cleanliness and to confront anyone littering the campus.
To bolster these efforts, Dr. Uzoma revealed that the institution has enlisted the support of undercover agents to provide crucial intelligence for prompt intervention by the authorities.
In conclusion, Dr. Uzoma urged students to prioritize their academic pursuits and future prospects by avoiding behaviors that could jeopardize their success.
