MINNA – The Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP (II)) in Niger says it plans to rehabilitate 176 kilometres of roads at the cost of N1.7 billion across the state.
Mr Ibrahim Nmadu, the State RAMP II Coordinator, disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna. [eap_ad_1] He said that the projects would be funded by the World Bank, adding that bid for the contract had been finalised.
Nmadu said that biding for the projects was done in accordance with the World Bank procurement guidelines.
“We advertised in two national dailies and we have gotten approval; contractors are still at the documentation stage.
‘’The scope will cover rural roads in all the councils of the state in order to give access to farmers and generate employment for the teeming youths in such areas,’’ he said.
The project coordinator said that the 176 kilometres of roads would be the first phase, adding that the project targeted 500 kilometres of roads in the state.
He said that the successful contractors had been shortlisted and were ready to start work after the final approval. (NAN)
