ABUJA – The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) on Thursday commiserated with the family of Clems Onyeka and film practitioners over the sudden death of Star Actor and Producer Clems Onyeka.
A statement issued by Brian Etuk, the Head, Corporate Affairs of the NFC in Jos, said the loss of the actor was pathetic and unfortunate.
Onyeka died in crossfire between the police and armed robbers in Asaba, while on a film shoot project on Oct.14.
The statement quoted Etuk as saying the NFC would continue to positively engage film practitioners and stakeholders in the country to imbibe best global practices in the art and business of film-making.
It also quoted the Managing Director of NFC, Dr Danjuma Dadu, as saying he was deeply saddened by the untimely death of Onyeka.
Dadu said the NFC was doing all it could to provide an enabling environment for the development of the Nigeria film industry.
Onyeka, known for his movie “Sorrowful Kingdom’’, had just concluded work on another one — “Widow’s Testimony.’’
Condolence messages have been pouring onto the Facebook page of 37-year-old actor. (NAN)
