Zaria (Kaduna State) – A financial expert, Dr Ja’afaru Sa’ad, has urged patriotic Nigerians to rally round the PDP to take over power in 2019.
Sa’ad, who holds the traditional title of Galadiman Ruwan Zazzau, made the appeal on Tuesday after obtaining the membership card of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Kofar Doka ward in Zaria.
Also at the event was Alhaji Kabiru Idris, Dan Madamin Zazzau, and a retired civil servant who also joined the PDP..
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the event that PDP remains a better platform for any patriotic politician committed to meeting the yearnings of the people.
According to him, events of the last three years and current political, economic and social realities in the country are testimonies that PDP meant well for the country and the people.
He stressed that he joined the PDP because of its youth friendly programmes and vision of a united Nigeria.
“I have been following the trends, reviewed the political, economic, social and security situation in the country.
“I came to a conclusion that PDP is a better platform that will enable me fulfil the vision I have for my people if given the opportunity to serve.
“That is why I join PDP and I am ready to serve in any capacity that my people may so wish when the time comes,” he said
Sa’ad added that if given the opportunity, his priority would be on youths and women empowerment.
“Nigeria will be a better place if women and youths are provided with education, job opportunities, security, health services and shelter.
“I am not sure the current government has done well in that regard.
“The youths, women and children are at the receiving end of the joblessness, insecurity and poor social services that characterised the current administration,” he contended.
He expressed confidence that PDP has a better chance of gaining public trust and confidence comes 2019.
Earlier, the PDP chairman of Zaria Local Government, Alhaji Sama’ila Musa, described the development as a good sign of good things to come for the party.
Musa said: “The coming of these men of integrity into the party will strengthen PDP’s chance of taking over power come 2019.
“Sa’ad for example has come in with about 1,800 supporters while Idris came with about 700.
“In all, from last quarter of 2017 to date, we have received more than 21,000 members, who joined PDP.
“Some are from APC, others from DPM as well as retired civil servant who just join politics,” he said. (NAN)
