Kaduna- The Kaduna State Fire Service on Wednesday said that the organisation had carried out fire safety inspections on 58 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) in the state.
The Director, Mr Paul Aboi, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna, said that the inspection was to forestall fire outbreaks.
According to him, the organisation is taking proactive measures to ensure that safety provisions are made in all public places, to prevent fire outbreaks.
“We needed to look at the safety provisions being made as they are old safety measure which we need to improved on.
“The safety provision of the past had to be improved on and also provide new safety gadgets were they are absent.”
Aboi lamented that some of the fire safety appliances in the inspected buildings required servicing.
“ The fire fighting apparatus being supplied needed to be serviced every six months
“Some of the First aid fire fighting apparatus at some of the MDA’s has not been serviced since its installation. What will happen when there is a fire outbreak? “
He said that the inspection would serve as wake up call to all MDA’s, to ensure regular servicing of their fire fighting equipment.
The Director said the state fire service would continue to sensitize the general public on preventive measures against fire.
