OWERRI – First Bank Nigeria Plc has handed over the renovated multi-million naira lecture theatre hall to the authorities of the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.
A statement from the university in Owerri on Tuesday said that the bank’s Head of Public Sector in Imo and Abia, Mr Chuks Njoku, performed the hand-over ceremony at the permanent site of the university.
The statement quoted the banker as saying that the renovation was in line with the bank’s corporate social responsibility.
“The renovation work is in line with FBN corporate social responsibility and a way of encouraging the growth of education and empowering youths in the areas where we operate,’’ Njoku said.
He urged the students to make the best use of the facility to enhance their potentials, noting that successful people the world over were those who enhanced their God-given potentials.
The Pro-chancellor of the university, Mr Clement Onwunna, commended the bank for the renovation.
Onwunna noted that the era when people abandoned educational institutions to the government were over, pointing out that such institutions produced the manpower for all the sectors.
He commended the exemplary conduct of the students of the university under its current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie. (NAN)
