Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has added his name to the growing list of politicians departing from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Enyinnaya, son of Theodore Orji, a former Governor of Abia State and prominent figure in the PDP, announced his decision to resign from the party after consulting with close supporters on Monday night.
“After careful consideration and personal reflection, I have chosen to leave the PDP. It is time for us to chart a new course in our political journey,” he stated.
This resignation follows closely after Chris Nwagboso, former Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, also tendered his resignation from the PDP. Nwagboso conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ehi-Na-Uguru/Osokwa Ward 5, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State.
Additionally, the entire executive committee members of PDP in Item Ward C, Bende local government area of the State, have collectively resigned from the party.
These departures from the PDP come in the aftermath of the party’s loss in the recent gubernatorial election in the State, where the Labour Party emerged victorious, with Alex Otti elected as governor.
