ABUJA – The National Public Procurement Forum (NPPF) on Tuesday called for uniform procedure in public procurement process in the country.
The forum, which was inaugurated on Monday at the just-concluded 1st National Conference on Public Procurement organised by the Bureau of Public Procurement in Abuja, made the call in a communiqué at the end of conference.
In the communiqué, the forum also called for a minimum entry point into procurement cadre in the public service.
It also stressed the need for a robust capacity development programme for procurement personnel in the service.
The forum called for the building of the capacity of indigenous service providers and contractors to position them for regional competitiveness in contract bidding.
It also called for the sensitization of the judiciary at federal and state levels with a view to facilitating accelerated hearing of public procurement-related cases.
It urged states in the country that were yet to enact the Public Procurement law to do so.
“All states, subsequent to the enactment of their laws, should also put implementation structures in place for effective and efficient public procurement delivery,” it added. (NAN)
