The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr Osas Osadabamwe, who said this on Friday in Dutse, noted that the incessant beating traffic, reckless driving, making phone calls while driving and driving on wrong lanes, prompted the measure.
Osadabamwe said the Corps had deployed road marshals to strategic places in Dutse, the state capital, to arrest and prosecute traffic offenders instantly.
He noted that the command had also received series of complaints from residents that drivers of trucks transporting sand were not using tent to cover the sands , which said was unacceptable.
“The FRSC mobile court had between March 23 and 24, arrested no fewer than 46 drivers for several traffic offences.
“Twenty one tippers and trucks drivers and 25 other drivers’ vehicles were arrested for numerous safety violations.
“The FRSC will continue to enlighten the public on the dangers of violating traffic rules and regulations through the media and public lectures.
The official said the gesture was part of efforts to penalise those who disrespected traffic regulations and solicited for the support of stakeholders toward reducing road accidents in the state.
He reiterated the resolve of the Corps to create greater awareness for motorists on the need to adhere to traffic rules and regulations especially on the highways. (NAN)
