Kano – The Kano State House of Assembly said it had received 2016 budget proposal of over N144.8 billion from the Executive, for the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Speaker,, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum, announced this during the house plenary session on Monday.
He said that the budget proposal was sent to the house in a letter signed by the governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
The House unanimously approved six weeks for its committees on Local Government Affairs and that of Appropriation to scrutinise the proposal and report back to the assembly.
Also during the session, the Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, Alhaji Hamza Bichi, presented before the house, its report on the state’s 2016 proposed budget.
Bichi said that the committee suggested an increase of N20 million to the proposed N100 million for the revival of the state-owned newspaper, The Triumph.
Bichi explained that the changes made in the budget, followed suggestions from the stakeholders during public hearing it conducted on the issue.
