Ganduje’s Video and the Myth About Buhari’s Integrity, By Moses Ochonu

Alarm don blow. Jaafar Jaafar has delivered the promised tape. And there are more tapes in his possession, so the trickle is likely to continue, prolonging and maximizing the pain. Governor Ganduje is now officially a burden on Buhari and the APC, a gift to the Atiku/PDP campaign that will keep on giving as long as he remains the APC Kano gubernatorial candidate.

Even if he’s substituted, the audio-visual evidence of such blatant corruption involving one of Buhari’s most trusted political allies will be hard to shake off and will neutralize the corruption campaign the APC wants to run against Atiku.

The viral presence of the Ganduje tape(s) on the internet will continue to reinforce the many visual images of Buhari cozying up to Orji Kalu, Akpabio, Tinubu, Babachir, Dambazzau, Kyari, Buratai, Obono-Obla, Amaechi, and other faces of corruption around the president.

This is what happens when you hold on to a hollow narrative of integrity in a political environment saturated by graft. It is a double-edged sword which will ultimately cut you, expose your hypocrisy, and leave you with nothing to campaign on.

Atiku’s camp will be excited at the prospect of the next election pivoting on non-corruption issues. That’s exactly the kind of election campaign they want.
