Ahead of the second phase of the National League which starts later this month, Gateway United Football Club of Ogun State has sacked seven players and warned aw0 others for low productivity and gross indiscipline which are contrary to the club’s Code of Conduct.
A statement from the club’s media officer, Rotimi Oduniyi, said the sacked players are Eyo Utomobong, Saheed Lasisi, Akinbule Ayanfe, Okolo Michael, Obinna Okoro, Udeze Ikechukwu and Tony Omaka.
In their letters of termination, the club’s general manager, Prince Adetunji Onatolu thanked them for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours.
The 10 players, who were warned include Opeoluwa Olufemi, Ameh Godwin, Francis Olanrewaju, Kanu Wisdom, Olakunle Oluwole, Ibikun Araromi, Ahmed Muhammed, Salami Sheriff, Tosin Folarin and Osas Oknioghae.
Prince Onatolu urged them to improve on their productivity and shun all acts inimical to the future and image of the club, adding that all efforts were on to fortify the team with good players ahead of the second stanza, “which starts on the 25th of this month with a home match against J. Atete F.C of Warri at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Kuto Abeokuta”.
