Lokoja- A political group, Transparency Group, has advised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disqualify persons with pending corruption cases from contesting its forthcoming governorship primary in Kogi.
Mallam Ibrahim Ocholi the Coordinator of the group, gave the advice on Wednesday in Lokoja at a press conference.
He said the party swept the polls during the last general elections based on the integrity and honesty of its leadership.
He added that the message of hope the party had been selling to Nigerians must be maintained by preventing any politician already charged to court for corruption by the EFCC from contesting election.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is known by Nigerians as an incorruptible individual.
“It is therefore sacrosanct for any one that will fly the party’s governorship flag must not be corrupt or linked with corrupt acts.
“Kogi State will be the first state where our party will test the ground. This state has been backward because of corrupt leadership.
“If the APC at the top is busy fighting corruption, then we must ensure that our party flag bearer must be corrupt-free irrespective of where he or she comes from in the state,” he added.
