Abuja – The new leadership of traders at Gudu Market, FCT, has pledged to enforce the sale and display of standard building materials, auto spare parts and electrical materials at the market.
Mr Bond Nnamani, Chairman, Gudu Amalgamated Traders Association (GATA), made the submission at the inauguration ceremony of newly elected officials of GATA on Thursday in Abuja.
He appealed to relevant government agencies to repair the bad access road to the market and also expand the market.
“Gudu market is one of the specialised markets in FCT; this is the market where you find quality and standard building materials and auto spare parts.
“When you think or mention electrical materials in Abuja, Gudu Market comes to mind.
“This administration shall pursue and enforce the sale and display of quality and standard products in the market.
“It is our desire to bring development and improved business environment in Gudu Market.’’
He said that his administration would collaborate with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to ensure order and sanity in the market.
Nnamani pledged his loyalty to the umbrella traders’ body, the National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS).
In his remark, the outgoing GATA Chairman, Mr Barth Ezike, said that the association formed in 2007 and had been duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Accoring to him, the market was inaugurated by a former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, in 2005. (NAN)
