He said that Nigerian artists had contributed their quota to the nation’s growth and deserved to be recognised and rewarded.
“There is no better way to reward these deserving artists where they are not only appreciated by their country but also celebrated on a platform aligned with international brands.
“The honour of receiving this prestigious award in their country, that is recognised on an international level, is one of the many things Smooth Promotions aims to achieve with this year’s awards,’’ he said.
He added that there would be a new category, “Best Alternative Song’’ and that the live premiere of “The Headies’’ would hold on Oct. 25.
The Headies since its inception in 2006, has recognised the distinguished achievements of artists and entertainers in various categories.
The Headies which was previously known as the Hip Hop World Awards, has recognised some of the biggest Nigerian artists, including D’banj, P-Square, Dr Sid, Wande Coal and Wizkid. (NAN)
