Lagos – A housekeeper, Juliet Uwa, who allegedly bolted with her employer’s N5 million bangles, was on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, 25, is being tried for a three-count charge for conspiracy, break-in and stealing.
The accused, however, entered a plea of `not guilty’.
But Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede said the accused and two others who are still at large committed the offences on Jan. 13 at Plot 40, Collins Uchinundo St., Lekki Phase 1.
He alleged that the accused has broken into the room of her employer (names withheld) and stolen two of her bangles valued at N5 million.
The offences contravened Sections 285, 305(b) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011, according to the prosecutor.
The accused risks between three and seven years imprisonment on conviction as stipulated in the Criminal Law.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Salawu, admitted the accused to a bail of N300, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum, one of who must be a blood relation of the accused.
In addition, she said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the government for three years.
Further hearing in the case has been adjourned till Feb. 17.
