OWERRi – Gov. Okorocha of Imo said he came into politics and became the governor of Imo to correct the idea of governance in the state.
Okorocha said this at a Christmas breakfast meeting he had with journalists in the state at the Government House, Owerri on Wednesday.
He said that his administration was able to embark on laudable projects and constructed good number of roads.
He attributed the success of his administration to developing the state to the ability to check corruption to a reasonable extent and a government without “godfatherism.”
Okorocha said that within the three and half years in office, he had sacrificed for the wellbeing of the people of the state in education, quick payment of salaries and infrastructural development.
“There is every reason for the state and its people to celebrate what God has done for us,” he said.
The governor, who called on journalists to join him in thanking God, called on the people to reposition for greater things in the years ahead.
He promised that before the end of his tenure, he would have groomed three persons that would continue in his line of leadership and emancipation of the people from “bad governance”.
The governor said that that in spite of the dwindling state resources, he was able to pay workers’ salary and settled other financial demands of the state.
He, therefore, wished the people happy Christmas celebrations. (NAN)
