Lagos – The International Labour Organisation (ILO), on Tuesday urged countries to dialogue with social partners to ensure development.
Mr Guy Ryder, the ILO Director-General, in a statement, said that government and its social partners must build a world of work that leaves no one behind.
“The future of work must be inspired by considerations of humanity, social justice and peace. If it is not, we are going to a dark place; we are going to a dangerous place.
“We need to transform our thinking into results, into concrete outcomes. We need to address the concerns of young persons who are wondering if there is a future of work for them”, he said.
Ryder said that international solutions were needed to harmonise the process of adaptation to the future of work and promote innovation and development.
“The future of work is a global issue that merits a global response and also one that requires taking into consideration the diverse circumstances of the 187 ILO member States.”
