Yola – The Adamawa House of Assembly says theio implementation of more than N1 billion constituency projects approved for the lawmakers by the state executive has commenced in earnest.
The Chairman on Information Committee of the House, Mr Hassan Barguma, disclosed this on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola.
“Various projects are on-going in areas of water supply, health, schools and electricity. Very soon there will series of commissioning,” he said.
Barguma, who lauded the executive for the gesture, said their predecessors had never had it so good in the area of constituency projects like the present assembly.
“Since inception of Adamawa state there is no Assembly that judiciously utilise the constituency funds by embarking on people oriented projects like this Assembly.
“In Shelleng constituency for instance, the member took electricity to a large community that have never seen light before,” Barguma said.
The legislator noted that in his Hong constituency, he concentrated on water supply in view of the acute scarcity facing some communities in the area where some people were taking water from ponds with animals.

“In one of the communities I saw people taking water from the same source with animals.
“Therefore, I concentrated on sinking of many boreholes including solar boreholes,” Barguma said.
However, he explained that the projects were not being handled by the lawmakers but the state government through affected ministries.
“For instance, water projects are being handled by the Ministry of Water Resources,” Barguma said.
On the blocking of the return of their colleaque, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulrahman (APC-Mubi South) who had served three months suspension, Barguma explained that the member was stop from returning because he had dragged the House to court.
Barguma, who is also the House Chief Whip, said since the matter was in court, status quo has to be maintained pending final determination of the case. (NAN)
