A group of influential figures in Nigeria, represented by the National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF), has attributed the recent surge in violence and bloodshed in the country to foreign infiltrators posing as religious extremists. Comprising eminent technocrats and notable figures from various sectors, the NCEF highlighted the collective threat posed by these external aggressors to indigenous ethnic communities.
In addition, the NCEF urged President Bola Tinubu to promptly implement the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference and advocated for an immediate prohibition on nomadic cattle herding, as well as the discontinuation of the RUGA project. Expressing concern over the government’s handling of terrorism, the forum questioned the lack of decisive action in dismantling terrorist networks, despite previous administrations’ shortcomings in this regard.
Dr. Samuel Gani, the forum’s Chairman and former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, along with Secretary Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, conveyed these sentiments during a press conference, emphasizing the urgent need for indigenous ethnic groups to unite and engage in renegotiating the future of Nigeria.
