ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has entered into a partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) on humanitarian relief services geared towards projects that would bring about development and as well as cushion the impact of insurgency in Nigeria.
The NRCS and TRC signed an MoU on Wednesday in Abuja at an event aimed at jump-starting the partnership in the country.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the NRCS president, Elder Akpan Anani expressed optimism that the partnership would pave the way for proper implementation of programmes that will contribute to the development of Nigeria.

Anani stated that the partnership will go a long way to project the national society into limelight and give it the needed visibility that the society has suffered in the past.
He said that Nigeria has a lot of potentials and if adequately harnessed will bring about the much needed growth and development desired.
Anani who noted that the issues of insurgency is a problem that has slowed the development process of the country, maintained that the NRCS has done a lot in offering aid in areas affected by this insurgency.
“And if adequately equipped, will go a long way in tackling this ill,” he stated.
Responding, the Director-General of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr. Mehmet Gulluoglo expressed satisfaction in the activities so far carried out by the NRCS and noted that their relief efforts aims at enhancing development in Nigeria.
He noted that the aim of the partnership is to improve relations with the NRCS and also stressed that both countries can work together in eliminating issues such as malaria etc while working together to see that the NRCS rises to the desired standard expected
