Abuja – The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’aqamatissunah (JIBWIS), an Islamic Organisation, has called on Federal Government and international community to mobilise and render more assistance to victims of insurgency in North-East.
The National Chairman, JIBWIS, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau, made the call at the International Islamic Conference organised by JIBWIS in conjunction with the Muslim World League, Mecca, on Thursday in Abuja.
The theme of the conference is: “ Security and Stability in the Face of Contemporary Challenges.“
Bala-Lau said “If this hopeless Nigerians are left to their fate, they might transform into another Boko Haram.
“ JIBWIS wishes to call on the Federal Government and international community to mobilise and render support to the victims of senseless killing, especially in the North-East.
“ This is quite possible to achieve by applying state resources judiciously and efficiently’’, Bala-Lau sai.
The chairman, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his strong commitment and sincere efforts to rid Nigeria of corruption and insurgency.
The Islamic cleric said people had been going about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, due to improved security in the country.
He prayed Allah to help the President to fight insurgency successfully and advised Buhari to be just and fair to all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion.
He identified injustice as the major cause of insecurity anywhere in the world.
Bala-Lau said the essence of the conference was to mobilise the nation against terrorism and misrepresentation of Islam.
He added that the conference was aimed at presenting to the world the true nature of teaching of Islam with respect to peace and nation building.
“ It is in the light of this determined effort that JIBWIS and the World Muslim League decided to partner, to contribute toward finding lasting peace and restoring stability in Nigeria.’’
He said that an elaborated capacity building course was organised for Muslims preachers and leaders during the conference, to help them understand the modern techniques for impacting Islamic knowledge.
Bala-Lau said JIBWIS had contributed greatly to the promotion of peace and Islam in Nigeria, adding that it had over 15,000 mosques and over 20,000 schools in the country.

He disclosed that the organisation had concluded arrangement to establish University in Kaduna State soon.
Bala-Lau appealed to the Federal Government to support JIBWIS in its efforts to attain greater heights in terms of nation building.
Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, who said justice remained the bedrock of stability in the society, urged leaders to be just and fair.
Quoting Shehu Usman Danfodio, the founder of Sokoto Caliphate, the Sultan said that ‘’a nation can endure with unbeliever but it cannot endure injustice.’’
Abubakar said the conference would enable Muslims to correct the wrong impression people had about the teaching and practice of Islam in the world.
He expressed concern about merciless and senseless killing in Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria and many other countries, adding that theterrorism often times portrayed Islam in bad perspective.
“ We must educate our people and we must educate non-Muslims to know what Islam means to strengthen national cohesion’’, Abubakar said. (NAN)
