Hadejia – The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Hadeja, Jigawa, have commended the Federal Government over the distribution of relief materials to over 6,000 affected persons in the area.
The IDPs made the commendation through their spokesperson, Malam Abdullahi Abubakar who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Hadejia.
They said the National Population Commission for Refugees had also distributed relief materials to cushion the effect of Boko Harama insurgency on them and their dependants.
The IDPs listed the items distributed to the IDPs to include food items, drugs, instructional and clothing materials.
“We have a committee which ensures judicious and fair distribution of the items to the deserving families,” they said.
They described the gesture as commendable, noting that it would assist to cushion the effect of the Boko Haram insurgency.
The IDPs called on organisations and wealthy individuals to complement the government’s gesture by assist them with relief materials.
NAN reports that hundreds of families affected by the insurgency in Borno and Yobe states have relocated to Hadejia, the state capita, some taking shelter in market stalls and others with relatives due to improved security in the area.
