MALAMMADORI (JIGAWA) – A total of 57, 154 children have been immunised against polio virus in Malammadori Local Government Area of Jigawa, during the last round of polio immunisation, an official has said.
Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu, the National Programme on Immunisation (NPI) Technical Facilitator for the area, said this while reviewing the report of the December round of the exercise on Wednesday in Malammadori.
Bilyaminu said that the children were also immunised against measles, tetanus and yellow fever during the five-day exercise, adding that the exercise had recorded over 100 per cent coverage.
The NPI officer said that the National Primary Health Care Development Agency had supplied adequate doses of Oral Polio Vaccines, which facilitated the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Bilyaminu commended the local government council for its support to the exercise.
Also speaking, Alhaji Muhammad Lawan, the Sole Administrator of the council, said the council had engaged community and religious leaders in mobilising people to fully participate in the exercise.
Lawan said the council had also provided candies to woo parents to present their children for the immunisation. (NAN)
