Be job creators instead of job seekers, don advises students

Gwagwalada (FCT)  –  Prof. Ernest Ayiedun, the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, University of Abuja, has advised students to be job creators instead of being job seekers, for the economic growth of Nigeria.

Aiyedun gave the advice on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

He said that students should be able to use their creative ability to do things that would contribute to economic and human development in the country.

According to him, the aim of the Federal Government in establishing the Centre for Entrepreneurship in higher institutions is to help tackle the menace of youth unemployment in the society.

“I encourage every student to key into entrepreneurship for self-fulfillment in the society, so as to be job creators for total economic transformation.

“They can go into liquid soap making, tailoring, hair styling, shoe making and many more as the training for all is not gender sensitive.

“We have entrepreneurship courses for all the students. We do both the theoretical and practical aspects of it.

“We do not impose interest in students, but ask them to write down their interest and then we approve.

“Their teachers are well equipped as they attend workshops and training from time to time,’’ said the director.

He further advised them to balance their time management even as they engage in entrepreneurial activities. (NAN)
