Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker Yusuf Liman has alleged that Bello El-Rufai, son of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, sent threatening messages regarding the Assembly’s probe panel investigating his father’s administration. The Assembly recently formed an ad hoc committee to scrutinize financial transactions and projects from 2015 to 2023 under Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure.
Liman cautioned Bello against intimidation, stating that the Assembly remains undeterred in its pursuit of accountability. Bello, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, allegedly used social media and WhatsApp to convey disrespectful messages and implied threats to Liman.
In response, the Assembly emphasized its commitment to transparency and the rule of law, urging citizens to support accountability efforts. The statement highlighted Bello’s behavior as erratic and unbecoming of a federal lawmaker, expressing concern over his attempts to obstruct the Assembly’s lawful functions.
Bello, when contacted for comment, downplayed the accusations, implying insignificance with the phrase “Small me? Have a nice day. I have work to do. Regards to ‘Pa’ Sam.” The screenshots of his tweets and messages have sparked widespread concern among Kaduna State residents, prompting scrutiny of his conduct as a public representative.
