Kaduna – The Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, on Friday said the early presentation of the state’s 2017 budget would allow the legislators time to scrutinise the document before passage.
Shagali said in an interview with News agency of Nigeria [NAN] in Kaduna the assembly would work assidiously to ensure that the final document was implementable, and serve the needs of the people.
“We are representatives of the people and we will ensure that whatever laws passed will be of benefit to all.
“People are yearning for good governance, we will concentrate on good governance to our people.
“As leaders elected by the people we should try and be good ambassadors, we should be honest and dedicated to the mandate which the people gave to us,’’ the speaker said.
Shagali commended Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i for his vision, saying that the assembly would continue to support the executive to move the state forward.
He urged people of the state to be patient with government, assuring that the leaders were doing their best to deliver on their mandate.
The speaker also enjoined the people to live peaceful with one another, adding that “no any positive development can take place where there is no peace and unity among the citizens.”
NAN reports that the governor had on Oct. 12 presented the state’s 2017 budget of N215.9 billion to the assembly for consideration.
