Kano  –  The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to construct a road to link six communities in Gezawa and Warawa Local Government areas.

The House made the call on Tuesday after a joint motion brought by members representing Gezawa and Warawa constituencies, Alhaji Ali Danja and Alhaji Labaran Madari, respectively.

Presenting the motion, Danja said lack of good roads in the area had forced residents to reduce their movements within the neighbouring towns.

According to him, the poor state of roads has also caused many accidents and loss of lives.

“Farmers in our area are also having serious hardship because of the condition of the roads.

“Our area is among the major food producing areas and farmers find it difficult in transporting their goods,” he said.

Danja, who is currently the Speaker of the House, said the contract for the road was awarded by the last administration, but it had not been completed.

At the plenary, a member representing Wudil Constituency, Alhaji Nuhu Achika, called on the government to construct road to link the communities.

Achika said that lack of road had denied the residents in the communities easy access to health care facilities.

He said that the call was necessary because of the series of complaints by the people of his constituency. (NAN)
