Kano – Dr Hafsat Ganduje , the wife of Kano governor, has called on parents in the state to enrol their female children in school to ensure a bright future for them.
Ganduje made the call on Monday during a reception organised in honour of APC women leaders at the Government House in Kano.
“We must educate our children so that when they grow they should be able to contribute meaningfully to the society,’’ she said.
She noted that there was a low enrolment of girls in schools, especially in the rural areas.
Ganduje said that it was regrettable that in spite of the efforts of the state government toward promoting female education, many parents were still reluctant to send their wards to school.
She said that the governor was aware of the effective role played by women in his victory and would not disappoint them.
She urged parents and guardians to give their wards quality parental care, teach and inculcate good morals in them in order to secure their future.
She said quality parental care would make children grow to become healthy and successful citizens.
Ganduje therefore urged mothers to make use of the available hospital services by attending antenatal and post natal care, immunisation as well as by imbibing good diet and hygiene.
In her remark, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Zubaida Damakka, said that the state government would give priority to women in the state.
