Istanbul- Kuwait has sought seek to execute 11 people accused of involvement in an Islamic State-claimed bombing in June at a Shiite mosque that left 26 worshipers dead, a report stated on Wednesday.
Kuwait’s prosecutor has sent 29 people, including a number of foreigners, to criminal court to face a range of charges.
The report said that only two people were facing charges of premeditated murder, while the rest were accused of a range of crimes, from incitement to joining an illegal extremist group.
A source said the prosecutor was demanding that 11 of the defendants face the death penalty.
The Islamic State group, a Sunni extremist militia, has formally claimed the attack.
On the same day of the Kuwait attack, the group also launched an attack against tourists in Tunisia, killing 38 people, while sympathisers of the group beheaded one person in France. (dpa/NAN)
