Ilorin  –   The wife of the Kwara Gov., Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, on Wednesday commissioned the Life Empowers Hope (LEAH) children reception centre in Ilorin.

Ahmed also pledged to build a children’s reception village for the abused, disadvantaged and vulnerable children in the society.

She declared her passion for dedicating a part of her life to reaching out to the homeless children in the streets.

“I call on well-meaning people to reach-out to these little children. An extra penny can add value to the lives of these children,” she said.

The Governor’s wife who is the founder of LEAH, also urged different organisations and NGOs to partner with the children’s centre so as to make a difference in the society.

She also pledged a school which would cater for the educational needs of such children.

Ahmed noted that she already had a restaurant on ground whose proceeds would be used to fund the children’s centre.

While commissioning the reception centre, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, Secretary to the State Government(SSG), said that the centre would provide succour for the indigent and vulnerable in the society.

Gold said that the reception home came into being in 2016, adding that it was ministering effectively to the needs of the vulnerable children in Kwara.

Also speaking at the event, Mrs Laja Adedoyin, Founder of Hearts of Gold Children Reception Homes, appealed for support for the home, and called on workers at the centre to be honest and loving towards the indigent children.

In her goodwill message, Mrs Elizabeth Ajibola, Chief Executive, Mount Olive Ltd, said that a fulfilled life is a life dedicated to serving humanity.

She urged all Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers and to reach out to one another.
