ILORIN – The Kwara State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Willbond Consulting Limited to organise a sports summit.
The signing ceremony took place at the conference room of the ministry with the state Commissioner of Sports, Mr Saheed Popoola, and the management team of Willbond in attendance.
Popoola, in his address, said the summit was borne out of the need to take the responsibility for managing sports from government and allowing the private sector to thrive.
He said that there were lots of talents in the country, adding that there was need to create a platform to harness these. [eap_ad_2] The commissioner, a former Chairman of Offa Local Government, reiterated Gov. Abdufatah Ahmed’s commitment to sports development and called on the people of the state to support the summit.
Also in his address, the Executive Director of Operations, Willbond, Mr Gboyega Ogunosun, said the signing of the MoU would boost sports development in the state.
He said the summit would open investment opportunities in the state as well as serve as a template for others.
Ogunosun added that as part of the terms of reference for the summit, his firm would source for funds that athletes could access to boost their potentials and put facilities in place for usage.
