Lagos – The House of Representatives Committee Chairperson on Foreign Affairs on Thursday reassured foreign investors in the country that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is committed to fighting insecurity.
Rep. Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje gave the assurance while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Elendu-Ukeje said that the administration would also continue to protect both local and foreign investors and their investments in the country .
She said that the President was also working hard to end corruption and insurgency as part of measures to bring about positive change in the country. .
His administration is also poised to the promotion of the rule of law and the diversification of the nation’s economy, she said.
“Let me tell foreign investors that the fight against terrorism is not a Nigerian problem. Terrorism is a migratory problem. We are, today, living in a world increasingly without borders.
“Nigeria is currently strengthening its institutions.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Foreign investors should, therefore, know that Nigeria is the “go to destination” for investors and, potentially, with the largest market,’’ she said.
Elendu-Ukeje enjoined would-be investors in Nigeria not to be deterred by the activities of Boko Haram.
He said the government was working to create the right environment for would-be-investors.
She said that Nigeria’s investment environment was opened to more foreign investors and businesses from across the world.
“Investors and would-be investors need to know that the Nigerian government is all out to tackle insecurity. And Nigeria is winning the war against insurgency,’’ she said.
The lawmaker added that Nigeria was already very strong “demographically and economically” on the continent, and would continue to be the destination for foreign investment. (NAN)
