Nassarawa Eggon (Nasarawa State) – Mr Abel Bala, member representing Nassarawa Eggon West Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on his opponent, Mr Danlami Kuje, to support him to develop the constituency.
Bala, a PDP lawmaker, made the call on Friday in Nassarawa Eggon, while reacting to the Appeal Court judgment that affirmed his victory at the March 2019 election.
He also dedicated his victory to God and the people of his constituency for supporting him throughout the period of the legal battles.
“I am excited that both the tribunal and the appeal court reaffirmed the mandate, which the people of Eggon West constituency gave me during the poll.
“I won the election fair and square, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“I want to call on my opponent to join hands with me in order to develop Nassarawa Eggon West and the state at large.
“By the special Grace of God, I will not fail in my responsibilities, as I will continue to provide the much-needed dividends of democracy to my constituents,” he said.
Bala, who lauded the judiciary for fairness and justice, thanked it for affirming him as the duly-elected member representing his constituency at the state Assembly.
He solicited for support and prayers from all and sundry to enable him succeed in the onerous assignment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bala’s victory had been challenged by Kuje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state Election Petitions Tribunal which, however, dismissed the petition for lack of merit.
Dissatisfied with the verdict of the tribunal, Kuje approached the Appeal Court, but lost the appeal, as the court, on Nov. 14, upheld the verdict of the tribunal and declared Bala the winner of the poll.
