MUSAWA (Katsina) – Dr Lawal Aliyu-Musawa, member of Katsina State House of Assembly, says the presence of delegates from state independent electoral commissions who supervised Saturday’s local government polls, shows transparency of the exercise.
Aliyu-Musawa, who is the Majority Leader of the parliament, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that he was satisfied with the arrangements and the smooth conduct of the election across the state.
Aliyu-Musawa said the team of monitors and election supervisors, including electoral commissions from Kano, Plateau, Kaduna, Kebbi and Anambra, manifested the quality of the election. [eap_ad_1] He urged PDP candidates, when elected, to uphold the party’s good leadership in the state.
In Kankara town, former Special Adviser to Katsina State Governor on Media and Publicity Alhaji Nasiru Abdul commended the electoral workers, security agents and voters for their patience throughout the exercise.
NAN reports that collation of results at local government centres began at about 4. p.m while returning officers were seen transporting results to the centres.
However, a voter in Malumfashi, Malam Abdulrazak Lawal, condemned the entire exercise, describing it as “a one-man- how” because the opposition parties, mainly the All Progressives Alliance (APC) and Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) did not participate in the election.
The election had suffered adjournments by the government based on opposition parties’ complaints of improper arrangements in the past. (NAN)
