Abuja (Sundaiata Post) – Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has denied signing any letter to the federal Civil Service for the reinstatement and promotion of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina.
Malami who admitted that there was a pension scam informed that Abdulrasheed Maina is one of the Pension fraud syndicates.
Justice Abubakar Malami disclosed this at the House of Representatives public hearing investigating the circumstances surrounding the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina which started in Abuja on Thursday.
The minister while narrating how he meet Maina said, “When the pressure became too much on me from some quarters to meet with Maina, I had to meet with him at United Arab Emirate (UAE) when I was part of the federal government entourage on official visit to UAE.
“But I had to inform the National Security Adviser (NSA) about the pressure to meet with Maina before I met with him.
“It was during the meeting that Maina narrated how he helped to recover billions of stolen pension funds.
Justice Abubakar Malami while explaining he has no interest whatsoever as the media hype suggest, recalled how he moved against Abdulrasheed Maina and recovered money from him.
According to him, issues about Maina’s recall was work-in-process as far as he is concerned as there are issues he minuted to be clarified first.
