Malammadori LG establishes grazing land protection committee

MALAMMADORI – Alhaji Lawal Abdu, the Sole Administrator, Malammadori Local Government Area of Jigawa, said on Monday that said his council had set up an 11-member grazing land protection committee.

Abdu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Malammadori that the committee was set up to ensure the protection of the three grazing lands rehabilitated by the state government.

He listed the grazing lands to include Kashin-Dila, Agayau and Sakuwa forest, adding the that the forests were provided with improved pasture, water points and animal health posts. [eap_ad_2] Abdu said that the committee was set up to ensure the protection of the grazing lands and cattle routes as well as educate the communities on the need to desist from acts capable of destroying the forest resources.

“The committee is also mandated to encourage dialogue in dispute resolution and enhance understanding as well as peaceful co-existence between farmers and herdsmen.”

According to him, the committee has so far conducted various sensitisation exercises to educate the farming communities on the need stop encroachment on the grazing lands to enhance sustainable development in livestock production. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
