Badagry – A 26-year-old unemployed man, Kingsley Egwu, on Wednesday, appeared at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly possessing fake Naira notes.
The accused, who resides at 37, Joseph Dosu Way, Badagry, is facing one-count charge of being in possession of face currency notes.
The Prosecutor, Mr Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused was caught with three fake N1, 000 notes at Calipso Hotel in Ibereko, Badagry, while trying to pay for accommodation in the hotel.
“He put the fake notes in the middle of other genuine notes thinking that no one would notice it.
“The receptionist detected it and the police were notified immediately,” he said.
Ikem said that the offence contravened Section 324 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000, with a surety in like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case until Aug. 22 for further hearing.
