Sango-Ota – 27-year-old man, Ismail Oyetunde, on Friday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing a gas cylinder and other valuable items valued at N18, 600.
Ismail, who lives at No. 26, Ganiyat St., Ologede, Ota, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court the accused committed the offence on Oct. 28, at 2.00 p.m. at Ologede area, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused stole a gas cylinder and other valuable items valued at N18, 600 belonging to one Kola Gbadamosi, but was apprehended by the victim’s neighbour and handed over to the police.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of the N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akan said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 14, for further hearing.
