Ado-Ekiti – A 30-year-old man, Joseph David, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of plastic pipe.David, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of stealing.The police prosecutor, Sgt. Alice Ojo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 2 at about 0900hrs behind NTA, GRA road in Ado-Ekiti.Ojo alleged that the defendant stole nine plastic pipes valued at N72,000 belonging to one Mr Babatunde.He said the offence contravenes Section 295(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, while his counsel, Mr Tunmise Akinwunmi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.She adjourned the case till April 19 for hearing.
